If you want to use a gun to protect your home or your family, then that is your right.

But to be effective in a public place, especially in an active-shooter situation, you need years of training, good situational awareness and nerves of steel.

That is not a skills set that you can buy over the counter at the local Wal-Mart sporting goods section.
