I could have gone the rest of my life not knowing how many of my fellow Americans are racist assholes.

My cousins and my uncle are fairly unapologetic about their racism. You could always tell when my dad was hanging around my uncle, because his own “issues” would flare up.

And I’ve mentioned before, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had complete strangers start up “Just between us white guys” conversations with me out of the blue.

I’ve been unfortunately aware of it since I was a kid.
