re: #446 Destro

Don’t know what you mean by “Islamic royal families” (are there such things?), but the Ottomans replaced the Byzantine leaders. The Byzantine empire and associated royalty no doubt had mixed throughout Europe. Note that the Tsars of Russia were founded by Vikings. How they then mixed with the Bulgarians and Serbians and whatnots to create further royalty I do not know, but I’m sure there are plenty of details online somewhere.

Further to the East - the Khazars were not Islamic per se (but a mix of Jewish groups and others). To the south the Islamic Arab tribes were not, to by knowledge, inter-linked with European royal breeding. But someone else with knowledge of Arabian history will have to chime in here. Even farther to east, in the lands that later became “Islamic”, in south Asia - those histories are shrouded in mystery, but while there is plenty of East-west gene mixing how that relates to pedigreed families I do not know. For example, Alexander the Great made it to what is today Afghanistan and Pakistan, but I an unaware of any ruling families that claimed ancestry to the Greek conquerors.
