They are desperate for a wedge issue this election and they are grasping at straws at this point. Most have fallen out of their grasp and they had to grab the birth control straw this time.

Yeah, there has been a sudden shift on the right, almost like a tactical change, toward emphasizing social issues. I suppose it’s to fire up the base, and outperform 2008 when they didn’t have an effective wedge issue. But contraception and invasive pre-abortion procedures? I don’t see those as winners for the GOP. It pisses off a lot of independents and moderates, especially pro-choice women or those who have gotten some form of birth control through insurance.
