Easier, but not more secure if a serious hostile system is after you. We had to make up our own passwords and submit them for testing, and that only got us into the lowest level network. (The big vulnerability was still human—password sharing and such.) The crap that Manning pulled should have been no surprise.
In every case where it was tried, giving out free USB sticks as a gift to senior executives at any company, no matter how ‘security conscious’, resulted in some VP sticking that USB into his work computer.
