A few years ago, I had a diesel Volkswagen for a daily driver. Pretty much every January, I would have to resort to plugging in the block heater because it would be too cold to turn the car over fast enough to get it to start. Annoying as hell, but once I fished up a plug-in timer, it got a lot easier.

Count your blessings. You could have had a 1970 1/2 AMC Gremlin base model with no power anything, a three speed Borg Warner manual transmission where the first gear wasn’t synchronized, a pump for windshield washer fluid and vacuum-powered windshield wipers…
