Nixon and Reagan BOTH courted racists with racially coded language. They were fucking THRILLED to get their votes. They courted the worst parts of the American psyche, and encouraged their bigotry, and their anger and their sense of entitlement, told them somebody else who didn’t look like them was taking away what should have been theirs.
