re: #449 Quoth the raven, Covfefe.

I’m actually in literally the same boat. Don’t know if you know, but I’ve been in the job hunt recently. Both of the hiring managers who have followed up with job offers have talked about my charisma and how they feel I’d be a good personality fit with their team. I can expend considerable social energy and be a damn respectable social animal for a couple of hours. But at the end of it all, I have to crash at home and if it’s really bad - like hanging out with my in-laws for an extended period - I might have to recuperate for days or even weeks at home, alone, with just myself and the cats and the virtual people of the Interwebs. Such is the life of an introvert; it’s not that we can’t, it’s that we don’t very often because it costs us dearly when we do. There’s nothing wrong with it; it’s just a matter of finding people who understand it and are okay with it. That’s where I got lucky with marrying a woman who was able to come around to acknowledge my social failings and adapt to them.

I’m in the job-hunting boat, too — two years without a job so far, and yesterday I had my first phone interview in months.

And part of my problem with jobs is that I’ve specialized in social media and writing press releases, both of which don’t give you the option of not being in contact with humans. :)
