We have a couple of wineries in the Finger Lakes that are cultivating some of those Georgian varietials. Check out Dr. Franks and McGregor (or don’t, because I would buy up their stocks instead).
The grapes: Rkatsiteli, Saperavi & Sereksiya Charni. I consider the McGregor Black Russian to be among the best wines in the Finger Lakes hands down. The Dr. Franks Rkatsiteli is right behind it…
i used to like riding up to hammondsport to visit the bully hill winery (early 80’s)
i remember they had a “goat white” and a “space shuttle red” and some other clever names.
cant say about the wine - i drank it but didnt have much of a palate back then. it was just fun.
