This does not follow. I said that if SoBD is unconvinced about the greenhouse effect and global warming, that he should look again. Carbon dioxide is one of the primary greenhouse gasses, along with water vapor and methane. (As someone else noted, there are some trace gasses that contribute also.) Human industrial output releases gigatons of carbon dioxide annually. A small increase in the percent of atmospheric carbon dioxide means a small increase in the opacity of the atmosphere at infrared wavelengths. All of this is non-controversial, well-established science.

Calling non-controversial, well-established science a hoax in my opinion borders on the conspiratorial. I think SoBD, and other people who suggest global warming is a hoax need to re-evaluate their position. Humans can, and do, have a very real effect on the environment and the atmosphere. Future generations are going to have to cope with the change in global climate and local weather patterns. Saying so doesn’t make me a socialist.
