Oh Christ. We all have personal shit going on, and none of it is responsible for any delusions we might have. You didn’t make a mistake so much as you were clinging tightly to a deeply held delusion. Now that the wool has been lifted from your eyes you can examine the consequences of this false belief, how holding onto it was feeding fundamentally flawed data into the mental equation that formed your economic ideology. Either way I wish your family the best and hope that your new understanding of how taxes are actually assessed improves your grasp of fundamental economic realities.
