Then I’d suggest, in the future, you preface such analysis with a disclaimer that you’re not defending it - otherwise, it can too easily be interpreted that you are in fact making excuses for what should be inexcusable behavior.

Though I have to be honest and say that, sometimes your attempts to explain horrendous GOP behavior creep very close to “Well, he beat his wife that time because he didn’t like the way she made dinner” - even if it may be technically and narrowly correct in one instance, it sounds an awful lot like minimizing, trivializing, and ignoring the elephant in the room - which is that some actions are so hideous the only appropriate reaction is outright condemnation - no excuses or “explanations.”
