re: #461 Sir John Barron
There are still good reasons not to go with Warren for VP. A GOP governor would choose her replacement; She doesn’t exactly broaden the ticket or bring much governing experience; Massachusetts is not a swing state, etc. But she is certainly warming to the role.
Tim Kaine is a good possibility and someone I’ve liked for this spot for a while. Although of course with VA’s one term limit, Kaine was only gov there for four years. He was a bit more conservative earlier in his career which could broaden the ticket to a degree, but I think his positions are pretty mainstream Dem ones now.
I also wonder if there are some legitimate dark horses not being mentioned—Someone like Leon Panetta comes to mind. I think he left the Obama Admin on unfriendly terms, or at least disagreed with Obama’s FP to some degree. But would offer a wide range of experience.
I’d like Kaine more than Panetta. Panetta doesn’t excite me. I do like Kaine though quite a bit. He’s probably my favorite Virginia Dem.
