If the principle is “only assholes question identity”, it is the same. Either you do, or you don’t. Her identity was questioned. Incl. by Deray. Either the principle applies, or it doesn’t.

The media made her a side show attraction. The interest by most was akin to looking at something at a zoo. It was sleazy.

I cannot comment on how people of color felt about her appropriation, that’s their feeling. I’m white.
