I hate agreeing with Jonah.

He still feels the need to ground his reaction in patriarchal terms. Being father to a daughter is the only rationale he can articulate for feeling that young girls shouldn’t be victimized. This is a mental framework that conservative men almost always fall into, the idea that any empathy for women they might have stems from their familial relationships to other women instead of the inherent equality and rights women possess on their own.
