honestly the Navy did little for the Marines in the Pacific…not for lack of effort but those island fights were beyond the pale…they did put point blank 5” fire on Mt Suribachi and shut down that face of the mountain…and at Saipan and Okinawa the Japanese gave us the beaches

Navy Corpsmen might disagree with that assessment?
