Bullets damage Ga. Muslim house of prayer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. —

Authorities in Fayetteville say a Muslim house of prayer has been targeted in a shooting.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (bit.ly) reports an alarm was triggered around 2 a.m. Tuesday the house of prayer on Flatt Creek Trail, and when deputies arrived they saw that four windows had been damaged by bullets. Police told the newspaper the privately owned building is not a mosque.

Authorities have not determined whether the incident is a hate crime and say no one was inside the building at the time. Police say other buildings near the house of prayer were also damaged by bullets, and authorities are asking for help from the public for information on the incident.
