It’s not a religious issue. And the mother is saying her rights were infringed because her daughter was able to get an abortion without her consent? Sorry, lady. Your daughter did what she knew would give her the best chance at finishing high school and going on to college. They can’t all be Bristol.

There are other ways to handle this situation.

I’m the mother of a daughter who was pregnant at 15. There is a whole range of emotional issues at play when a 15-year-old is engaging in behavior that will result in pregnancy, whether the child is carried to term or not. There’s also after-care health issues that these parents may have needed to deal with. Parents of 15-year-olds need to know what’s going on with their kids.
