Career planning counselors at schools are likely upset over this, but the whole practice of unpaid intern was nothing more than indentured servitude. It enabled those employers to pawn off significant amounts of work on to those interns without having to worry about compensation.

I’m frankly surprised it took this long to consider ending that whole practice.

The whole “internship” process is designed to weed out students and graduates who can’t afford to dedicate so much time to working for nothing when there are bills and student loans to pay.
