My parents are Cubs fans. ‘Nuff said.

(Funny enough, I grew up favoring the South Siders, but my parents didn’t get super into baseball until after I moved to Minnesota and excitedly followed the Twins.)

I loved the 1968 Cubs like only a nine-year-old boy could, watched all their games on WGN, even got to go see a couple of games at Wrigley Field that summer, where my brother caught a foul ball in the stands and gave it to me to get autographed by Ferguson Jenkins.

And they broke my heart by losing out to the Mets in the final weeks of the season.

Still never really recovered from that.
