Not quite the same. 80 percent of the Olympic athletes are vaccinated; so the results are not as likely to be so dire as when the “Spanish” flu swept through the population in 1918.

I was thinking in terms of athletes bringing new strains back to their (in most cases under-vaccinated) home countries.
