Germany Wants Alleged Mossad Agent Turned Over By Polish Police

Germany is seeking the extradition of an alleged Mossad agent, arrested in Poland last week on suspicion of participating in a plot to kill a senior Hamas official in Dubai, a spokesman for the Federal Prosecutor said.

Police in Warsaw on June 4 or June 5 apprehended a man reportedly known as Uri Brodsky, who was taken into custody under a European arrest warrant issued by Germany, spokesman Andreas Christeleit said today by phone from the Karlsruhe-based Federal Prosecutor’s office.

Prosecutors allege that Brodsky used a stay in Germany to help a fellow Mossad agent obtain a German passport to enter Dubai and assist in the murder of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh. Al- Mabhouh, a founder of the armed wing of Hamas, was killed in Dubai in January.

Polish police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski in Warsaw said in a telephone interview that he couldn’t immediately confirm or deny the arrest and would first need to make inquiries.
