perry, i guess, focusses the anti-romney, radical right vote

party primaries, and parties for that matter, are not part of the constitution, and therefore there is no contitutional guarantee that the “will of the electorate” be respected in them

the party establishment clearly wants romney to be the nominee, and now that perry is in the race, the teabag faction knows who it will insist on. this deathmatch, with neither side finding the the other’s candidate remotely acceptable, should dominate the next 12 months

the party establishment has ways of arranging a ‘majority’ vote in the primaries for romney, unless the teabaggers turn out to be so overwhelming that perry cannot be stopped

i’ve been waiting for the republican party to split into two mutually hostile factions for years. will perry’s entry cause it to happen?
