History will not remember today’s conservative movement well.

They’ll be the ones who believed the corporate shills rather than the vast majority of scientists on AGW, costing innumerable dollars and lives.

They’ll be the ones who fought gay rights and marriage equality tooth and nail, denying an entire class of people their civil rights because of religious fanaticism.

They’ll be the ones who supported torture and war, but fell into rage and paranoia when a black Democrat started killing terrorists with drones.

Their politicians will be the ones who clamored for laws against abortion and Shariah Law while the Great Recession dragged on.

I could continue, but you get the idea. And as a disclaimer, yes, I realize there are individual conservatives who are reasonable and willing to work with progressives to solve our nation’s problems, but the movement itself has, as Charles says, gone off a cliff.
