somebody loved this old horn - there are a couple of funky repairs where something has been wrapped around connections in the mechanism to shim them so that the connected keys are pressed down better

it seems like they must have played it a lot and cared about whether it played well but didn’t have the money to get it really repaired. well, a lot can happen to an instrument in 87 years…

buescher made about 28 thousand saxophones in 1925 ( saxpics.com ), sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and who knows what else. i figure they made more altos and tenors than the others, so lets say they made a few thousand sopranos. you see four or five come up on the ebay every month
