I’m not sure if it was in one of his books.
But I read that somewhere, in an interview with somebody who had had dealings with him - while they were with him, they were convinced he agreed with everything they said, but once they left, they weren’t able to say exactly where he stood. I call it the “edwin edwards” school of politics, because EE had the exact same effect on people I know who dealt with him.
