Sometimes the risks have to be run. Bleeding the Red Army was an important enough project to be worth the blowback we got from it.

Not to mention the fact that the Sovs were running a really brutal and nasty war in Afghanistan…but if they had been anti-Commies, instead of Commies, we wouldn’t have given a damn. Still, we were coming to side of the oppressed at the time.
