Well suffrage at least in some parts of the country was given to African American males first before women so it’s not really too surprising and Obama did run a much better campaign than Clinton did in 2008. That’s part of it too. Bill Richardson was very qualified in 2008 and went nowhere. You need to convince people to vote for you and not just your resume.

Richardson had a lot of baggage.
