If the cops or someone else published the home address of people that had attacked the cops, I wouldn’t be outraged, no. Like those idiots with the fireworks. I wouldn’t think it was great, but not outrageous.

If they published the addresses of people who just passively resisted arrest, that’d be shitty.

I do think both are improper, and I don’t think it does any fucking good and it’s encouraging vigilantism, but the information is pretty freely available for anyone who actually gives a fuck. And anyone who actually does anything vigilante-style should and deserves to go to jail.

I find it hard to see publishing the personal information of someone who’s accused of committing a crime, especially one that’s pissing people off, as not being a strong nudge in the direction of vigilantism.
