If you’re going on sidestreets, just stick it in second and forget it. It doesn’t do wonders for your clutch or your mileage, but you won’t spill your Slurpee.

Hmmm. Actually in a VW third gear is like all-purpose gear. I think you can go as low as 25 and as high as 90 in it, and still be in the engine’s rev band.

I know, I’ve merged onto the highway a few times in my bunny had to back off to fit in and then started to drive on down the road at 60 and then look down and go “duh”…and then sometimes I just go from 3rd to the 5th overdrive.
