Someone asked me once why more places don’t run underground power lines like they do in the Plains states. In answer, I point them to the weather map of the Midwest, where the temperature fluctuations are extreme and damage would/does occur regularly to below-ground fixtures like gas lines, power lines, and water mains. At least aerial lines are easier to get to and repair.

It’s not so much the losing power that pisses me off…well okay, it mostly is, but it’s the fact that every time we lose power, even if for only two minutes, I have to go around the house resetting every…single…clock.
