I haven’t read the actual legislation being proposed so it’s possible that “ending ties with the UN” means something besides its literal meaning. If it does mean that, it’s just stupid. Even if your goal was world conquest and you wanted to lob a few nukes at people, you’d want to keep your seat on the security council just to be disruptive.
