Anyone know who the republican challenger is? I think I remember something about it being an economics professor. What is the district make up like, I assume it is a pretty safe democratic seat, but with only 12% turnout, the folks who voted in the primary probably aren’t totally representative. Just wondering if the Rs have any shot at a pickup now.

70% minorities, heavy Latino constituency. She’ll mop the floor with whichever R tomato can they put up against her.

Crowley won his last race by 29 points, IIRC. She’ll be fine.

New York’s Republican primary isn’t until sometime in September, so we don’t know who she’s facing yet.
