I know that - Just realized that my original post about it forgot to mention the words “since the soviet union collapsed” that I originally thought I included.

It’s pretty ironic that the Soviet Union’s successful propaganda attempts to get Western leftists to ally and support them undercut the credibility of leftist movements in the US and Europe, leading to a heavy reaction against leftist ideas and a much more right-wing US and Europe.

A double irony in that Marx could have told them it wasn’t a ‘real’ communist revolution, since it wasn’t happening in an industrialized country. Wasn’t even right on theory.
