I know there’s wild boars in the forest right outside my apartment building - I can hear them early in the morning. I saw one a few weeks back from my balcony. It came out of the woods and poked around for a minute or two near the walking path then disappeared back into the treeline. I’ve also seen deer do the same thing.

We used to love having wild boars at the gunnery ranges at Grafenwöhr when I was stationed in the 1st Armored Division in 83-84. Of course, the German game wardens were never happy with us but when they went running across the range, almost every tank would open fire with their .50 cal machine gun ;) Still had our own Army cooks in those days too - very tasty what they could do with a pig.
