Yes, we have both an arsenic and uranium problem in our water. As such, the state Health Department and the Environmental Protection Agency demanded the village do something about it.

Since a water treatment plant would be incredibly expensive for a village our size, the EPA and state allowed the village to install RO units in each building. (The emergency solution until they were installed was the village giving Britta water pitchers and filters to everyone.)

We are required to test every home and business in the village over a three-year period for arsenic and uranium (we also test for other things since we’re doing it anyway). The village has a contract with the RO unit provider to service every RO unit in town every six months. (That is way cheaper than a water treatment plant.)
