The very dumbest thing that the Senate Repubs could do right now is try to ram a nominee through before the election. Pundits left and right are already telling Trump not to force them to do it, for Mitch to refuse to do it, and even suggesting that a vote before the inauguration would be a mistake.

Which means Trump’s going to push out a nominee in the belief that it will help his reelection and constantly berate Mitch for not taking a vote on his nominee.

Trump will want another toady of his on SCOTUS. Badly.

I’m hoping for casualties on both sides if this conflicts with McConnell’s agenda.
