No. On this, Bernard Goldberg has the right of it: There was a time when network news agencies in the US were primarily intended to inform. But that ended in the 1970’s when they started to turn a profit. Once it was realized that they could be profitable, their main focus shifted to making money. Unavoidable really, given the modern imperatives of a corporation.

Be careful there. Conservative aren’t supposed to admit that profit motive can make something worse. ;)
