Think before we start in the cuts, we need to first get an iron-clad agreement that the Bush Tax Cuts for those making $250K+ are history. So far, the GOP continues to balk on that, so as far as I’m concerned, there will be no deal.

Eh, eh. Before any tax hikes can be accepted, I’d need to see specific non-defense cuts detailed. Republicans should list some such cuts and then require the Democrats to accept some of them. Privately, of course. This isn’t the sort of situation where either side can publicly agree to preconditions.
