I’d like them to actually answer this simple question. I’ll acknowledge that Republicans did support the CRA of ‘64 and that indeed many Democrats opposed but I want them to answer this: That if the Republican Party were so committed to the Civil Rights, then why would they nominate an opponent of the legislation for president? And why did Nixon run to the right of Nixon circa 1960 on Civil Rights and furthermore why was “Saint Reagan” more closer to George Wallace than MLK on Civil Rights. I’ll never get an answer I know because they actually believe that LBJ was “the real racist” even though for all his warts, no president in the 20th century did more on civil rights.
