Well no, Nimitz was just the design that the admiralty came together and decided had all the qualities they wanted. She was better designed than Enterprise had been to exploit nuke power, while being more economical in the long-run compared to the Kittyhawk class. Problem is that the design is getting cramped with all the additions that are being added on and her reactors don’t have the power to support some of the stuff coming down the pipe. So the Ford is meant to incorporate all the latest tech while having room to grow.
