Right, and that why I sometimes muse that, maybe, just maybe, if we can’t nominate a genuine liberal/progressive/social democrat, it might be better to go ahead and have “shock treatment” to wake the dullards up. Because, Democrat or Republican, I’ve been watching the incremental right-ward shift since the beginning of 1970s (greatly accelerated post ray-gun), and if were going to end up there anyway, if someone like Sanders (someone completely mainstream in any of the more civilised countries) is “beyond the pale”, then maybe a frigid blast is what it’ll take to truly wake a few of the folks who think a steady diet of LOTEs is just ducky.
