re: #479 Hecuba’s daughter

He approves of Pence, the Manafort nominee for VP. He waited until now to make a published objection to Trump. I wouldn’t place any credence in his statements on anything, though I suppose some GOP Senators might begin thinking that if Trump has even lost a hack like Verret, it’s time to reconsider their position. Pence gets them all the bad legislation and judges without the embarrassing rants.

Pence doesn’t have the same intense base that Trump commands. He isn’t the hater they like. So, politically he suffers from that, especially if it can be turned that it was Pence supporters who pushed Trump out.

Pence isn’t all that well liked by people in his own party. He actually was saved politically by being picked VP which is one of the reasons I think they took him. They knew he would be loyal because they kept him politics as he was almost done in Indiana.

Sure, McConnell will control him but I think the base loses its interest and maybe that even takes some of the boldness out of McConnell and also the scare of that Trump base. McConnell can be a little looser without that base because he won’t have to fear them as much. Might make him 1% more workable.

And really, how much do you hear Republican talk about Pence? If he was all that, they probably would have run Trump out by now.
