Actually, Sarbanes-Oxley came out of that-but it’s been so sparingly (or so badly) applied it’s been for all practical purposes useless.

It should have been used with flourish as part of the Great Recession as SarbOx required that the CEOs and CFOs are required under penalty of perjury to sign-off that all financial reporting was accurate under Section 404. Then when things like the London Whale fiasco hit, that should have raised all sort of red flags.
