I hate to say it but Hillary would almost certainly be losing to anyone else. Maybe tied with Cruz because he’s so metaphysically repulsive on every conceivable level of analysis. Most of the mainstream media have bent so far backwards normalizing Trump because in their guts they just feel like the GOP deserves the Presidency after eight years of Dem White House control. They’re so far up their own asses trying to act like they understand how things work that it doesn’t even occur to them how they’re going to answer the very pointed questions future historians will have for them. Assuming of course that Trump doesn’t win and we actually get to have future generations of historians.

I really do get the impression that the media wanted either a race that pitted Hillary against somebody like Rubio or Bush, or barring that a race between Trump and Bernie. What’s frustrated them so much about this race is that they can’t really go after Hillary without drawing glaring attention to how much putrid shit on Trump’s plate they’re pointedly avoiding. They go after the “lies” about emails, they get called on not giving more press to Trump not even being on speaking terms with objective reality. They go after the alleged corruption in the Clinton Foundation, they get clubbed with the actual corruption in the Trump Foundation. They want so badly to relive the “Great Penis Hunt,” but delving into Bill’s sexual history looks bad when he’s not the one running against a multiple divorcee who married two of his mistresses.

So instead we get months of stories about “optics” and how Hillary looks so much “worse” than Trump, which has shredded whatever bits of dignity many media fixtures still had left.
