Sure, but most of those moderate Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats tended to cancel each other out. And I just seem to recall it happening more often.

To me, the fact that it’s being used to confirm nominees is the big tell. Oh, of course the Both Sidesers will say it’s because of ‘polarization’, but they won’t admit it’s assymetrical polarization.

It used to be that any nominee who wasn’t going to get a majority would be pulled, since there was no consensus.
