re: #18 Blind Frog Belly White

I have empathy for the situation - life hasn’t turned out how they expected because of things that they had no control over. Factories closed, jobs went away, etc. But, you know, that happens to everyone.

It’s been popular for a long time to bash Detroit as a place that was ruined by Democrats and by “Those People”, and to show all the empty houses and shit. It’s especially popular among people who now find themselves in the same situation as the people of Detroit - jobs went away and aren’t coming back, but the people are still there.

But instead of saying, “Cripes, now I get it!”, a lot of them double down and want to blame everyone who doesn’t look like, talk like, pray like or love like them. And that’s where my empathy sputters out.

Detroit wasn’t ruined by Democrats and “Those People.” It was ruined by upper management that sold people shitty cars for roughly 50 years and finally paid a price for it.
