probably been said, but i gotta reach conclusions all by myself and that can take time
- dorsey and twitter say they wont (not cant) ban white supremacists because they cant write an algorithm that wont also boot off a bunch of republicans.
- and they’re too cheap to throw lots of bodies at it to police it manually.
- we all pretty much instantly noted that if R’s didnt tweet such bigoted stuff, they’d be fine. and that being a politician (elected or no) is not a pass to be an asshole. certainly not on a privately owned messaging service.
- and it was pointed out a lot that R’s would get booted not because they’re R’s but because their posts are indistinguishable from the hate filled crap twitter says it otherwise would want to target.
so:
- if twitter could just boot off the white supremacists et al and filter out the R’s, then the R’s remaining on twitter and spewing that hate, would be the twitter bigots
- this only changes who and how many spewers are left
- twitter continues to support filth
so in what bizzaro world is that solution better than focusing on language and context, regardless of the pedigree of the poster?
