I think there is a problem with this article - not in content or what it says about Beck, but in that it illustrates how few media sources we actually have these days. Time Magazine is owned by Time Warner. Time Warner also owns Fox News’s major cable news competitor, CNN. I do have a problem with news sources that are no longer truly independent of other business enterprises taking indirect hits at the competition. It would be as if the Wall Street Journal, a Murdoch newspaper, did an unfavorable story on Wolf Blitzer because he competes with Murdoch’s Fox News for ratings. Or if CNN ran favorable stories on AOL, also owned by Time Warner, to drum up business.

Of course this is common practice now, but it makes me wonder if we still do have a free press.
