Agree with your post but the quoted portion is a meme that needs to die. The US sold saddam helicopters. We didn’t sell him guns, tanks, artillery, missiles, or any weapons systems. Hence, the US didn’t “arm” iraq, the soviets did.

Don’t forget the chemical and biological systems:
